Experienced Hydrographic Surveyor

A-2-Sea Solutions are recruiting an experienced hydrographic surveyor to join their expanding survey team. As an experienced surveyor you will work with a small but growing team of professionals providing advice and guidance to less experienced members of the team. You will work in all aspects of the project including provision of technical information at the tender stage, equipment mobilisation, data acquisition, data processing, data QA/QC, report writing, report review and approval of data deliverables.

The role will be based at the A-2-Sea office in Romsey and as such the candidate would be expected to reside within a commutable distance to the office. In addition, you will require a flexible working attitude as the role will also involve periods of several days to several weeks away from home whilst undertaking surveys UK wide and overseas.

Minimum requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience within hydrographic survey or similar
  • A university degree in a survey/marine related discipline
  • Experience with a variety of hydrographic survey equipment including multibeam, singlebeam and side scan sonars
  • A full working knowledge of survey techniques and data acquisition software (QPS QINSy, Kongsberg SIS, Hypack)
  • Hands-on experience with hydrographic survey equipment and knowledge of developing technologies
  • The ability to process large quantities of bathymetric data efficiently and to a high standard using Caris HIPS & SIPS and QPS QIMERA
  • Experience of bathymetric data QC and QA
  • Flexibility to work away from home when necessary
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • A positive ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Full driving license

The following skills would also be of benefit:

  • Experience of GIS
  • Experience of AutoCAD
  • Offshore medical
  • Sea survival training

Graduate Hydrographic Surveyor

A-2-Sea Solutions are recruiting graduate hydrographic surveyors to join their expanding survey team. As a graduate surveyor you will work within a small but growing team of professionals and gain experience in all aspects of a project from survey planning, equipment mobilisation and acquisition of high resolution datasets through to data processing, reporting and charting of final deliverables.

The role will be based at the A-2-Sea office in Romsey and as such the candidate would be expected to reside within a commutable distance to the office. In addition, you will require a flexible working attitude as the role will also involve periods of several days to several weeks away from home whilst undertaking surveys UK wide and overseas.

Minimum requirements:

  • A university degree in a survey/marine related discipline.
  • Knowledge of modern survey methods and equipment
  • An understanding of data processing methodologies
  • Flexibility to work away from home when necessary
  • Report writing skills
  • A positive ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Full driving license

Although the successful candidate will develop their skills through experience and on the job training, the following experience and skills would be beneficial to the application:

  • Experience in QPS QINSy and QIMERA
  • Experience in Kongsberg SIS
  • Experience in Caris HIPS & SIPS
  • Competent in GIS
  • Offshore medical
  • Sea survival training

CAD Engineering Draughtsman

A-2-Sea Solutions are recruiting a CAD Engineering Draughtsman to undertake the following duties:

  • Create 2D electro/mechanical engineering scheme and design layout drawings
  • Create 2D electro/mechanical engineering detail drawings for manufacturing purposes
  • Updating existing drawings in line with the company’s ISO 9001 quality system
  • Liaise with various sub-contractors during the manufacturing and build process
  • Liaise with cable engineers to explore (through CAD) possible product design improvements
  • Use CAD to assist in other areas of the company’s business activities

The successful candidate will:

  • Demonstrate experience in the required duties (above)
  • Be proficient in the use of AutoCAD
  • Have at least 2 years’ full-time CAD experience (this may include experience gained whilst studying)
  • Have proven experience of working as part of a team
  • Have knowledge of material selection for electro/mechanical manufacturing purposes
  • He prepared to get involved in ‘hands on’ build and installation tasks
  • Have aspirations to expand the company’s use of CAD

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our growing team. The role is full-time and is largely office based (Romsey) with possible site visits. Hours are 08:00-17:00 Monday to Thursday and 08:00-13:00 on Friday.
